Student Announcements - Friday - 9/21/12

• OUTER LOCKER DECORATIONS
If you have activity/sports locker decorations on the front of your locker, please move them to the inside on Friday before you leave school if you would like to keep them. The custodial staff will remove any outer decorations every Friday night after school. Thank you!

• NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
There will be a meeting on Tuesday, September 25th at 3:15 pm in Mr. Gilbertson's Room 225.

• FORENSICS
Suit up and join the 2012-2013 Skyview Forensics (speech and debate) team. There will be an informational meeting for all interested competitors (new or returning) in the library from 3:10 - 3:40 pm on Monday, September 24th. See you then. Any questions: contact Mrs. G or one of our returning team...

• ALL NATIONS CLUB
There will be a meeting on Wednesday, September 26th in Room 124 from 3:10 - 3:50 pm. We will be putting up a tipi in front of the school on Monday, September 24th to recognize Native American Heritage Day on Friday, September 28th. Everyone is welcome, hope to see you there!

• BOYS BASKETBALL OPEN GYMS
Open Gym for Boys Basketball will be on Tuesdays from 6:00 - 7:30 pm and Thursdays from 5:30 - 7:15 pm.

• SMIMMING MEETING
Matt Santala, the swim coach, will be here Wednesday, September 26th at 3:15 pm to meet with prospective swimmers in the Commons. If you are interested in being a member of the team, please plan on attending.

• PICTURE RETAKES
Picture retakes will be Tuesday, October 9th.

• YEARBOOKS
Yearbook sales will begin at the start of the school year and end on December 21st. There will be no orders taken for the yearbook after December 21st. The cost of a book is $55.00 ($60 w/ a name stamp) through October 17th. After October 17th, the cost of a book goes up to $65.00 ($70 w/ a name stamp). Senior photos are due by October 5th.

• PART-TIME WORK
Are you looking for a part-time job and like working the elderly? Butterfly Homes Assisted Living is currently hiring caregivers. They have two home-like assisted living facilities and each home has 12 residents. Evening and weekend shifts are available with flexible schedules. Please apply at the following address located in the Heights behind the Hilltop Baptist Church: 72 or 77 Valley Circle, 252-0747 or 245-0334. Please ask to speak to Berni, Beth or Janet.

• PSAT
PSAT sign-ups begin Monday, September 17th in the Counseling Center. This test is for juniors (and Honors English sophomores) and is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarships at the junior level. Cost is $16 cash or check made out to Skyview High School. Last day to sign up will be Friday, October 12th - no exceptions. The test date is Wednesday, October 17th and testing starts at 8:00 am. Even though this is a late start day, students will need to report their assigned test rooms no later than 7:55 am. This is a national test date and cannot be changed.

• TEEN FOOD PANTRY
Our Teen Food Pantry for teens in need is up and running again this year. If you'd like to donate to the pantry, please contact Amy Dandliker, Tumbleweed Counselor @ 281-5229. We're always looking for non-perishable items. In addition to the pantry, we take clothing donations. At this time we are in need of gently used and new boys clothing and shoes.

• MSU FRIDAYS
Montana State University - Bozeman is again hosting MSU Fridays where prospective students and family members can explore MSU academics, extra-curricular activities, student life and much more. October 19th is the date of the first MSU Friday and students are encouraged to register by October 12th online at www.montana.edu/admissions/msufriday.shtml.

• WENDY’S HEISMAN
Wendy's High School Heisman awards program is looking for seniors who have at least a "B" grade average, participate in a least one school-sponsored sport, and are involved in community and extracurricular activities. Apply online at WendysHeisman.com for a chance to win up to $500 Wendy's gift cards and attend Heisman Weekend in New York City. Deadline is October 2, 2012.

• PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY
The search is on to find our top youth volunteer. If selected, you could receive $1,000, an impressive silver medallion, and a trip to Washington, D.C., next May. If you feel you've made a positive difference through a volunteer activity during the past year, visit http://spirit.prudential.com to apply. Deadline is November 6, 2012.
